The player may access the Husk crafting menus via the Fleshcrating workbench located in any Shaper camp. Here they can craft a new Infernal Husk by combining various components or salvage unwanted parts. The design can be previewed in the rightmost panel.
Hover states and tooltips. Components of the Husk are similar in format to other items in D4, although simplified so that they do not eclipse the character's equipment. Here you can see the introduction of Sets, which have always been a favorite of mine.
The Fleshsculptor NPC handles a number of different functions in the season, including the crafting of Soulstones seen above. On the right is the detail panel for the current Husk, including all stats and ability descriptions.
The Fleshsculptor is also where the player can craft Inscribed Pelts. They may combine up to three Runic Hides to create a Pelt of varying rarity and quality depending on the Hides used. The player may also customize the color of the Pelt.
The player can also craft Appendages at the same NPC. By turning in Flesh Scraps collected by defeating enemies, the player can create a random Appendage chosen from three different types with varying effects and costs. To the right is the part inventory.
Once an Appendage has been crafted, the player has the choice of whether to keep it (send to inventory) or salvage it (for a small refund of Flesh Scraps). The items can vary in quality like other equipment in the game.
Here are some of the icons I created for this project. The goal was to make them functional and readable for any UI artist further along the pipeline.
For this project I quickly sketched out the menus I wanted to create following the proportions of similar elements in the current game. I wanted the UX to be familiar to players, but still provide slightly different experiences for each component.
Diablo 4 Fan Art: UX Case Study
I wanted to try my hand at designing and creating a UX mockup for a chunk of seasonal content for one of my favorite ARPGs. Inspired by both Season 3's bot companion and the new mercenary system in Vessel of Hatred, I came up with an idea for a Build-A-Bear style feature that allows players to construct their own demon friend with a huge amount of freedom for customization.

I was also excited to dig into the lore of the Diablo universe and design something with that particular gothic horror flavor, and while I'm not sure that the mechanics align with what the developers have planned for the future of the game, I still feel that the Shaper faction is an interesting addition to the world.

Either way, I had a ton of fun designing this project and I'll be updating it with further work in the coming weeks!

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Blizzard or Diablo 4 in any way. This is purely a fan project and all rights are reserved for their particular owners. I created all of the visuals aside from the Diablo 4 logo, the screenshot used for the backdrop, and the font (Old Fenris attributed to the wonderful Fernando Forero).
