The main view of the circuit. Players place components to connect the fiber optic lasers on the left with spectrometors on the right side of the board.
The board can be chemically coated to limit the spaces in which players can place components

Illuminator is an educational game meant to teach the science involved in photonic circuit design to students. I was contracted to lead the visual development of the game and create all assets used in the final product. The goal was to create an abstract and simplified respresentation of the chemical processes and components used in creating integrated circuits.
The game won a SIlver award at the 2023 International Serious Play Awards for educational and serious games. It was the highest awarded game in the Higher Education category.
